Who we are
Students’ Union
The Emily Carr Students’ Union (ECSU) is the collective voice of YOU- the students of Emily Carr. As a student, you are automatically a member of the students’ union. We are #nottheuniversity which, allows us to remain an independent voice and accountable to you, our members.
What we do
We strive to make your student experience at Emily Carr an excellent one. We provide advocacy for students, put on events, and support important student collectives, clubs and initiatives. We also create opportunities for students to meaningfully engage with University Deans and administrators.
Some of our past victories include:
Development of the U-Pass BC program to provide discounted transit for all students in Metro Vancouver!
A 2.5% decrease in annual interest rates on student loan debt!
A successful This Time We Decide campaign for the 2015 Federal election that resulted in voter turnout reaching its highest point in 20 years, and youth turnout for youth aged 18-24 increased 24% in BC!
No interest in BC student loans.
Beyond the University, students at Emily Carr are also members of the BC Federation of Students (BCFS). The BCFS is made up of 14 student unions across the province and provides students with an effective and united voice. As a member local of the BCFS, we organize with students from all over British Columbia to make education more affordable and accessible, negotiate great services like your Green Shield Extended Health & Dental plan, and run successful provincial and federal-wide campaigns.
